          FAQ

When it comes to hairpieces for women, they are a few options to choose from. There are hair toppers for women that help with concealing hair loss, thinning hair, or bald spots and patches. These hair toppers, also known as top pieces, tend to be smaller than wigs and can blend with the wearer’s natural hair to create an overall natural-looking appearance without anyone noticing the hairpiece.

There are also a variety of different wigs for women including full cap wigs, partial wigs, and medical wigs that come with beautiful, natural-looking Indian Remy, premium Chinese Remy, or European hair. Lastly, there are also hair integration systems that allow women to integrate their own hair into the system to achieve a realistic and undetectable appearance.

You have a couple of options as far as base materials for women’s hairpieces are concerned. For one, there’s monofilament bases which are known for being extremely durable and long-lasting. If a natural-looking, breathable and undetectable appearance is what you’re after, there’s also the option of lace bases. Skin bases may not be as natural, but they are realistic nonetheless and also come with the added benefit of being easy to attach and remove while offering the option to attach with glue or tape. Finally, there’s silicone bases in which no adhesive or clips are required whatsoever as these bases will securely grip and remain on your scalp.

It’s extremely important to know the correct cap size to get with your women’s hairpiece. If you get something smaller than required, it will slip off. If you get something larger, it won’t sit properly and will essentially give away that you’re wearing something.

For a hair topper or if you only have a specific area of hair loss, you will need to measure from front-to-back and side-to-side. You can refer to the following video:

Everyone is different as far as their level of hair loss and head size. With that being said, there are a number of different cap sizes available to choose from at Superhairpieces. They include the following:

          • 5’’x7’’ - small hairpieces
          • 6’’x8’’ - medium-sized hairpieces
          • 7’’x9’’ - large hairpieces
          • 8’’x10’’ - extra large hairpieces

For anything larger, there are partial and full cap wigs for those who have total hair loss. It should be noted that these hairpiece sizes are adjustable and can be cut down further. Alternatively, you can place a custom order if you require a different size than what is offered by us.

All our women’s hairpieces come in one of four human hair types:

          • Regular hair - high quality Indian Remy human hair
          • Basic hair - more affordable version of our regular hair produced in a quicker timeline
          • Premium hair - luxury Chinese Remy human hair
          • European Remy human hair - comes in red, blonde, or brown tones

In general, most hairpiece wearers prefer to wear human hair since it’s real hair extracted from an individual. Human hair is not only natural-looking in appearance, but feels natural when it comes to touch and texture. While synthetic hair is much more natural today than it was in the past, it still lacks the overall feeling and look that human hair provides.

Additionally, human hair is heat-resistant unlike most synthetic hair, and so, it can be styled a lot more especially with heat styling products such as curling irons, straighteners, and blow dryers. Synthetic hair is more durable as a whole and definitely more affordable, but the investment with human hair is worth it when it comes to achieving a natural-looking appearance.

Hair toppers are specifically meant for certain hair loss areas on the scalp such as thinning hair, bald spots, or bald patches. They are smaller than wigs and are meant to blend with the wearer’s natural hair in order to achieve a natural-looking appearance. And so, you are required to have a good amount of hair remaining in order to wear a hair topper. Finally, you will require either clips, tape or glue in order to attach a hair topper.

Wigs, on the other hand, are full cap for the most part which means they cover the entire scalp. They are ideally worn by those undergoing chemotherapy, have extreme or total hair loss, or women who simply want to try different hairstyles and colors. Women’s Wigs can also be attached without the need for clips, wig tape, or wig glue. Lastly, you don’t need to have any hair in order to wear a wig.

If you’re a beginner looking to wear a women’s hairpiece for the first time, we recommend the following hair units:

          • P41
          • Fiona wig
          • P6814
          • P7914BSC
          • Ez Volume 5714

Note: These are just our recommendations. Consider booking an online consultation to speak to one of our hair specialists and determine which hairpiece is suitable for you and your needs

When choosing a hair color for your hairpiece, ideally you should look to choose something that is closest to your natural hair color. If you want to change things up a bit, we recommend going a maximum of two shades darker or lighter than your natural hair.

Some other things to consider include:

          • Matching your skin tone
          • Matching your eye color
          • Your age
          • The climate where you’re located

Absolutely! We cater women’s wigs and hair toppers for every ethnicity and race. With different types of qualities, hair grades, colors, hair blends, etc we make wigs for Caucasian women, African-American, and Asian women.

Whether you’re looking for a certain hair texture such as straight or curly hair or to conceal thinning hair or a bald spot, we've got you covered. We even welcome people who identify as a woman and simply require longer hair or volume to feel more in-tune with your femininity, our women’s hairpieces will do the job for you!

What is better a wig or a topper? ›

A hair topper is different from a wig because it only covers a small area of the head. Hair toppers are typically cheaper than full wigs, and some wearers feel they are also more comfortable because they are lighter. Despite this, many prefer to rock a full wig due to their more extensive coverage.

Can people tell you're wearing a hair topper? ›

After you have spent a short amount of time blending the topper with your own hair and styling it, will look highly natural, and no one will be able to tell you're wearing a topper.

Should a hair topper be longer or shorter than your hair? ›

However, it is not necessary for the hair topper to be the same length as your natural hair. Selecting a hair topper with a similar length or slightly longer can be a good option. If your hair length is around 16'' then you can choose the hair topper with the length at 16''.

How to hide hair topper hairline? ›

Apply a root concealer to your hairline and part to further conceal the hair topper and prevent thinning spots from showing through. Secure the topper in place. Hold it still at the top of your head and run a paddle brush through the hair to blend it into your natural hair.

How do I choose a hair topper color? ›

Toppers are applied 1 to 2 inches back from the front hairline. This means you need to match the topper to the color of your biological hair, which is often lighter around your face. Blending and styling the topper and your biological hair together will create a natural and seamless look.

How does a hair topper stay in place? ›

When you put your hair topper on, just slide the clips into your natural hair and snap shut with pressure. If clips aren't your thing, you could also try out specialised wig tape to keep your topper in place. Wig tape is available in a variety of strengths, and there are hypoallergenic tapes if you are more sensitive.
