How many days after shaving can I epilate? ›

Epilating two or three days post shaving is easier on the skin and is less painful than epilating two or three weeks post shaving. Exfoliate - Exfoliating before epilation helps to loosen any ingrown hairs and remove dead skin cells to prep the skin for a better result.

If you have shaved your hair for a long time, it is beneficial to wax off all the hair once, then epilate the regrowth.

Epilators can Lead to Ingrown Hairs

These are hairs that have curled back or grown sideways into the skin, often causing irritation and inflammation. For individuals who are prone to ingrown hairs, epilation might pose a challenge.

The hair grows thicker and darker after each shave, often covering the area with a stubble that feels coarse to the touch. It undoes much of the progress you make with the wax which, in turn, makes the hair grows thinner every time.

Once you have used your epilator several times you will find your hair growth has slowed and you will be able to reduce the frequency of epilation. It will prolong the time it takes for your hair to grow back but it won't permanently get rid of your hair forever.

Those epilating for the first time will certainly get red bumps soon after. The bumps usually subside in a couple of hours, but you can apply some anti-histamine cream to get some quick relief.

Long-lasting results

Since epilators have the ability to remove the smallest (0.5mm) length of hair and they also lift the hair from its roots, it gives a longer window for your hair to regrowth. It results in up to 4 weeks of the smooth, hair-free bikini area.

Epilators are electric devices that use coil springs or tiny tweezers to pluck hair from the roots. It works the same as waxing but allows you to remove shorter hairs compared to waxing. And comparatively less painful!

Both methods last up to 4 weeks, but epilation can be more convenient because you don't need to wait for your hair to re-grow. If you wax, you have the wait for hair to grow long enough, which can mean several days of hairy legs. No more in-between days!

Preparation is everything. Before you start to epilate, take a look at how long your hairs are. Epilating works best when the hairs being removed are no longer than 5mm. The shorter the hairs, the less painful the epilation.

We recommend that you use most products on dry skin, as wet hair tends to stick more to the skin. Also, if you are aiming to do an on-the-go session, try using the product on dry skin instead. Be certain that your skin is clean and completely dry before using the appliance.
