ESPN updates its Football Power Index (FPI) rankings after every week of college football. Yes, there are still 2 games to be played (USC-LSU and Boston College-Florida State) before Week 1 is officially over, but the rankings have been updated.
Alabama was the big winner among top teams after its 63-0 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday night, jumping 3 spots to No. 2, behind only Georgia.
The top 10 was, unsurprisingly, dominated by SEC and Big Ten teams. The SEC placed 6 teams in the top 10, while the B1G had 3. Notre Dame was the other top-10 squad, checking in at No. 6 after a win at Texas A&M on Saturday night.
Here’s a look at the current top 25:
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Texas
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Tennessee
- Ole Miss
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Miami
- Mizzou
- Louisville
- LSU
- Michigan
- Auburn
- Florida State
- Texas A&M
- USC
- Kansas
- UCF
- Kansas State
- Clemson
- Arizona
- Utah
An impressive 10 SEC squads are in the top 25. The Big Ten only has 5 teams in the top 25, as it falls off a bit after the top tier of teams.
These rankings will change on a weekly basis, so check back in next week to see if Georgia continues to hold on to its No. 1 spot for the foreseeable future!

Turds. Lol. That’s funny. But if we’re turds then what’s that make y’all, seeing how many titles and the domination Alabama has?
And it’s the first week. Chill. You can only play who you play. Speaking of, who did y’all play? I wonder by how much WKU would be favored against them.
But I expected auburn to be better than what the rankings say. I actually believe they’re one of many dark horses for the playoffs, those pathetic phags.
But I think Alabama just needs to show that there will be no fall off. That’s gonna suck the hope out of everyone, not just all the SEC, the whole country. ALABAMA is EVERYONE’S target. It will stay that way.

Wow! As an Alabama fan, it’s easy to understand why a fan would call Bama a turd. Alabama has beaten Georgia how many times to end their season? Apparently Clemson wasn’t that great of an opponent either. It’s a long season and September 28th will tell the whole story. Alabama vs Georgia in Tuscaloosa, AL

Actually! In the last 9 meetings between Georgia and Alabama, Georgia has won 1 game. Who seems to be the turd in this rivalry. In 72 games played between the 2 schools Alabama leads the series 46 wins to Georgia’s 22 wins and 4 ties.

Seriously, Georgia Tech should be @ 25. Along with LSU dropping down to 22. USC should jump a couple of more spots. Florida State to # 24
