ingredients

DOUGH

2 eggs, room temperature
1 cup warm milk
1/3 cup melted margarine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 1/2 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

FILLING

1 cup packed brown sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons makara cinnamon, (cinnabon brand)
1/3 cup softened butter

CREAM CHEESE ICING

4 tablespoons softened butter
3 ounces cream cheese
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt

directions

Dough: Add ingredients in order listed to bread machine baking pan. Insert pan into bread machine and start "dough" cycle on machine. When dough is done, turn out onto floured rolling board and allow dough to rest for ten minutes. Roll dough out into a 16" wide and 21" long rectangle, with a dough thickness of about 1/4 inch.

Filling: Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl until well mixed. Spread softened butter over the surface of the dough and sprinkle sugar-cinnamon mixture evenly over the dough surface.

Roll dough jelly-roll fashion along the 16" wide side of the rectangle. Cut dough roll into 12 slices. Place 12 rolls into a 9" by 13" baking pan and bake at 400 degrees F for approximately 15 minutes or until light brown on top. Remove baking pan and allow to cool.

Cream Cheese Icing: Combine in a mixing bowl until well blended. Frost cinnamon rolls with icing while rolls are still in the baking pan.

cook's notes

These are most like the original when using Cinnabon's own brand of Makara Cinnamon - available at any Cinnabon Stand.

Does anyone have dough ideas if you don't have a bread machine? Thanks

I love that this recipe can be made in my bread machine as I really hate kneading dough! Turned out just like cinnabon!

These are the BEST cinnabon clones!!!

They rocked! They are much better than original cinnabon rolls...at least you know what you're eating! Thank you very much...though I thought I was on a diet!I just have to say that the icing would have been better with less sugar...I'd put only 1 cup and that I didn't use that bread machine(for readers who don't have one).

I've tried 6 or more bread machine cinnamon roll recipes in the last few months and these are by far the BEST! Light, fluffy, the perfect amount of filling...absolutely fabulous. I did put the rolls in the pan and then cover with a towel and let rise for 1/2 hr before baking.

These are the best cinnamon rolls I have ever made at home, hands down. As we ate them, we couldn't speak...just make grunting sounds :) I did add a few drops of lemon juice to the icing but that is the only thing I did differently. Otherwise, I followed the recipe to the letter. Just awesome!

The rolls rise in the breadmaker. After you take it out of the maker and put on your counter... they rest again for 10 min. These are AMAZING!!! I use Sam's club cinnamon. I have made them many times and they are ALWAYS a hit!

I made these using a 1.5 pound bread machine and was my first attempt at making cinnamon rolls. I was a bit nervous as most recipes from manufacturer of the bread machine called for 3 cups of flour in all their recipes. Mine turned out fine as I was hoping as I did not use the bread machine to bake them in, just to let the dough rise. They turned out just great.

question about Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. In the reviews no one mentioned allowing the rolls prior to baking to rise. Do they need to rise?

While I love to cook I am not a baker and don't work much with dough unless I have to. These rolls were a BLAST to make as the dough was so easy to work with and turned out PERFECTLY. The rolls were a sight to behold coming out of the oven. I ended up with close to 20 wonderful sized rolls and cannot imagine the whoppers I would end up with if I only made 10. Will definitely be using this recipe again, and again...a hit for sure with the kids and husband!!!

These were wonderful. I did cut back in the brown sugar by about 25%, which simply prevents them from being gooey on the bottom, but some may prefer that so its a personal preferance. Watkins has a brand of the cinnamon that is the Makara after researching it. You will need to increase the bake time by about 2 minutes from the suggestion.

Just finished making these twice this week, as different relatives arrived for the holidays. These are the best. Everyone is raving about the taste and texture. Dough was easy to work with, rose beautifully. You have to try these!!!

This recipe was the one I used for my first time making cinnamon rolls, and these are delicious. I have since made them three times in as many weeks. Some might find adding the frosting makes them too sweet. I make a little less frosting, and back down on the cream cheese. I would be courious to hear what others do in regards to the frosting...

  16. Guest Foodie October 1, 2009

These are good BUT they are even better if you substitute cake flour for the wheat flour!!!

Oh my gosh! These are the best cinnamon rolls I have ever made. The recipe was very easy to follow and they couldn't have turned out any better. My husband and son have just about wiped them out and I just took them out of the oven about an hour ago.

I have never been any good at making bread/yeast recipes. I finally got a bread machine and decided to try this recipe. I can't believe how nice the rolls turned out. The bread machine did all the work. And rolling it out was very easy. My kids and I both thought the rolls were delicious. I did add a teaspoon or two of milk to the icing to thin it out a little. Other than that, I followed recipe exactly. Very good!

Amazing! I had to sub with sour cream & vanilla like another gal noted, and they were perfect. I wondered if vanilla yogurt would have worked too and may try tomorrow. I followed the other directions to a tee and got 14 huge rolls. Big hit with my family! Yummmmmy!

I made these for my Husband, who is a Cinnamon roll aficionado. He swears these are the best EVER! This recipe was so easy I didn't have the pudding mix so I subbed 1/4 C sour cream and 1 tsp vanilla; instead of thread I used waxed dental floss (mush easier) . They turned out perfectly! They were nearly demolished the night I made them and there's just 4 of us, I had to threaten death to keep enough for breakfast the next morning. I zapped 3 rolls for about 30 sec and they were as good as the night before!

These are the friggin BOMB!!!!!!!!! This was first time I EVER made cinnamon rolls from scratch, and let's just say that they are the softest cinnamon rolls I've ever had. They melt in your mouth!!!!!!

  26. pinklily_wv August 11, 2007

Ok well I haven't eaten them yet but I couldn't wait to comment.. they are rising now! .. I just had to say how amazed I was at how much they rise.. I left them in the bread machine for about 20 min b/c I was busy and when I went to start rolling out the dought the lid was almost popped off the bread machine!

very good breakfast item. Makes a little more than stated but no complaints since it was good! Following the recipe makes dough that is just right for the rolling pin.

  32. CinnaBob REVIEW:
    March 9, 2006

This recipe is the most like real Cinnabons of the recipes listed here. To make them the size of the "real thing", roll the dough from the 16" end -- you'll make a shorter, thicker log with more revolutions -- and cut it in to eight 2" slices. Increase bake time to 17-19 minutes.

Hello all, The missing ing is Lemon Extract in the frosting. I made the frosting all through my emp at cinnabon. this rolls are rolled out on a cold marble stone and raise in a moist oven water and steam heated on botton of oven just to rise roll not for baking.

  34. marcy10 REVIEW:

The best cinnamon roll recipe I've used so far. The dough was very easy to work with and the trick with the thread for cutting them made it very easy and fun.
