Gorgeous tapered cut hairstyles for 4C natural hair. From super short to a full on 'fro.
I’ve been rocking my natural hair for 9 years now. Yup. I celebrated my 9th Naturalversary on January 31st. After browsing through old photos, I realized that I’ve been serving some serious lewks… all while keeping my hair short and tapered. I’ve worn a range of tapered cut hairstyles from super short and faded, to a full on tapered ‘fro- styled using a variety of techniques. I’m taking y’all down memory lane and sharing some of the styles that I created to show you how versatile your natural hair can be. Even while wearing a tapered cut.
TAPERED TWA
You can’t go wrong with a super short Tapered TWA (teeny weeny afro) with defined curls. Especially when it’s super hot out and you can’t be bothered. Watch my Short Tapered Cut Tutorial to skip the barber and do it yourself!
TAPERED TWA WITH SIDE PART
Sometimes all it takes is a slight adjustment to switch up your hairstyle. In comes the side part. Adding a side part to your TWA is a funky way to switch up your look when you’re bored with your hair. Watch my Side Part Tutorial to see how to add a part to your TWA without cutting your hair. This way you avoid the awkward grow back phase.
CURLY TAPERED ‘FRO
Your curl definition will be more noticeable as your tapered cut grows out and your hair gets longer. Show off your natural curls with a Curly Tapered ‘Fro. Watch this 3 Row Comb Wash n’ Go Tutorial to learn how to define your natural curl pattern using just a Denman 3 Row Comb.
PERM ROD SET
A roller set is a great way to switch up the look of your curls since rollers allow you to manipulate your natural hair into a specific curl pattern.Perm rods are a type of rollers used to create spiral curls. FINGER COILS
Rocking Finger Coils is a great way to switch up your look while giving your natural hair a break from manipulation. Even super short tapered cuts. FINGER COIL-OUT FAUXHAWK
When you get tired of wearing finger coils you can extend the style by pulling them apart for a Finger Coil-Out. FADED HIGH TOP

TWIST OUT
If you want to elongate your curls and show off your length, then a Twist Out is your best friend. You can do smaller twists for a more defined look, or chunkier twists for a chunky twist out. I’m sharing my secrets for the perfect twist out in this Fluffy & Full Twist Out Tutorial.
CLIP INS

I love Bantu Knots as not only is it a cute protective style, but you get to pull them apart to create an entirely new style- the Bantu Knot-Out. I’m proud to have executed all of these tapered cut hairstyles on my 4C natural hair. As a result, I’ve inspired others with Type 4 hair to not only embrace their texture, but to be creative with their styles. And that was my goal because in my opinion type 4 hair doesn’t have enough representation. Especially 4C hair.

Hi Miss Jasmine, quick question? Do you dye your hair and if so what type do you use(permanent, semi permanent or a rinse). What brand and what would be recommended that would do the least damage but successfully cover gray hair completely. Am going short!!❤

I love your hair and the many styles that you rock. I am doing a big chop this wknd and am looking forward to having short hair again. My hair texture is very similar to yours . I want to know if i should be using the LOC method because in your videos I see you mostly use the leave in , then the Jamaican black castor oil and the gel as the last step. Your response is greatly appreciated .

I can’t tell you what will work for your hair. I can only share what works for mine. Everyone’s hair is different. Try it and see if it works for you.
